i just have two crits:
1) the horizon seems to be tilted to the left a bit.
2) i would crop the black foreground shilouette (the part you are probably standing on) cause it distracts the eye. it's just a black block stopping the eye. cropping would also take the horizon out of the middle.
despite the long text this are little concerns and i really like this shot!

looking again, i'm not sure if it's tilting or if it's barelling caused by the lens... or the monitor or my glasses! =p
very weird.
But as for the croping of the foreground... I thing it gives the image a bit more depth, don't you? A person sitting, or staring at the sun at the 1/3 mark would make a nicer comp, though.
But it does drives the eye downwards, instead of towards of the light, that you are right.
I'll edit when I have some time.
get rid of most of the foregroung and see straighten the tilt

Really great work, love the mood, beautifull lighting.
My only crits would be the slightly tilted horizon and the lens barreling or whatever you call that (the roundabout effect
